Certification & History
Get certified through
Romana’s Pilates International
June Hines Pilates is a satellite of the Romana's Pilates International Certification program, the finest certification program in the world.
Romana picked June Hines to be a Level 3 Teacher Trainer in 2003. June can accept students into the training program, observe their work, and mentor them on their path to becoming a certified Pilates instructor.
After being evaluated and accepted into the training program, the student is required to take 3 seminars, pass 3 tests, and complete an Independent Study under the guidance of a leveled Romana’s Pilates Teacher Trainer.
Designed by Romana Kryzanowska herself, the program is firm in insisting upon a commitment from each apprentice, but flexible in allowing people to juggle work schedules and family obligations.
Whether you're considering Pilates instruction as a second career or a first passion, the Romana's Pilates certification program will meet your needs.

Joseph Pilates created a method of moving that still works today when performed well.
Joseph Pilates passed his work to Romana Kryzanowska who then shared it with her students including June Hines.
Our mission at June Hines Pilates is to keep the method pure as Romana and her daughter Sari Mejia Santo taught us.
The Importance of
Joseph & Romana
Born in Germany in 1883, Joseph Pilates committed his life to the study of mind and body and is recognized as a pioneer in the field of physical therapy. Frail as a child, through self-study he became strong and physically agile. He later grew to become an accomplished skier, diver, gymnast, boxer and instructor in self-defense.
After interment in WWI, Pilates designed exercise apparatus. This system formed the foundation for his style of body conditioning he called “Contrology” which he brought to New York City in 1926.
Joe taught a wide array of clientele from businessmen to the injured war veteran. Dancers quickly realized the merit of his conditioning system and came to his studio to strengthen and rehabilitate their bodies. George Balanchine and Martha Graham discovered his work and realized its benefits. Today, Pilates has become a widely accepted form of exercise that has an abundance of benefits for people of all ages and fitness levels. Joseph Pilates died in 1968 but passed his life's work onto his protege' Romana Kryzanowska, and a generation of instructors that learned under her, including June Hines .
Romana Kryzanowska dedicated her life's work to carrying on the method that "Uncle Joe" left her. Romana's Pilates International, now led by her daughter, Sari Mejia Santo, and granddaughter, Daria Pace trains Pilates instructors around the world passing on Joe's legacy. Romana is the mentor of our work at June Hines Pilates.
